Both of you still want to have fun and be entertained without the additional stress of planning . Just an easy and simple evening. Chocolate… take us away! Let’s keep it simple and do an oldie but goodie date idea… movie night. But not just any old movie. Something with chocolate of course. Check out the most popular chocolate themed movies.
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971 Fantasy)
Amazon: “Having proven itself as a favorite film of children around the world, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory is every bit as entertaining now as it was when originally released in 1971. There’s a timeless appeal to Roald Dahl’s classic children’s novel… It’s really the story of the impoverished Charlie Bucket, who, along with four other kids and their parental guests, wins a coveted golden ticket to enter the fantastic realm of Wonka’s mysterious confectionery. After the other kids have proven themselves to be irresponsible brats, it’s Charlie who impresses Wonka and wins a reward beyond his wildest dreams.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005 Fantasy)
Amazon: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, about eccentric chocolatier Willy Wonka (Johnny Depp) and Charlie, a good-hearted boy from a poor family who lives in the shadow of Wonka’s extraordinary factory. Acclaimed director Tim Burton brings his vividly imaginative style to the beloved Roald Dahl classic Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, about eccentric chocolatier Willy Wonka (Depp) and Charlie, a good-hearted boy from a poor family who lives in the shadow of Wonka’s extraordinary factory. Long isolated from his own family, Wonka launches a worldwide contest to select an heir to his candy empire. Five lucky children, including Charlie, draw golden tickets from Wonka chocolate bars and win a guided tour of the legendary candy-making facility that no outsider has seen in 15 years. Dazzled by one amazing sight after another, Charlie is drawn into Wonka’s fantastic world in this astonishing and enduring story.
Note: Now, I know it isn’t exactly about chocolate but there is one line that has become one of the world’s most popular quote said by Forest Gump: My momma always said, “Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.”
Amazon: The Academy Award winner for Best Picture, Best Director Robert Zemeckis, and Best Actor Tom Hanks, this unlikely story of a slow-witted but good-hearted man somehow at the center of the pivotal events of the 20th century is a funny and heartwarming epic. Hanks plays the title character, a shy Southern boy in love with his childhood best friend (Robin Wright) who finds that his ability to run fast takes him places. As an All-Star football player he meets John F. Kennedy; as a soldier in Vietnam he’s a war hero; and as a world champion Ping-Pong player he’s hailed by Richard Nixon. Becoming a successful shrimp-boat captain, he still yearns for the love of his life, who takes a quite different and much sadder path in life. The visual effects incorporating Hanks into existing newsreel footage is both funny and impressive, but the heart of the film lies in its sweet love story and in the triumphant performance of Hanks as an unassuming soul who savors the most from his life and times. –Robert Lane
The novel was adapted for film in 2000, directed by Lasse Hallström and starring Juliette Binoche, Judi Dench, Alfred Molina, Lena Olin and Johnny Depp. Chocolat is a 1999 novel by Joanne Harris. It tells the story of Vianne Rocher, a young mother, who arrives at a fictional insular French village of Lansquenet-sous-Tannes with her six-year-old daughter, Anouk. Vianne opens La Céleste Praline, a small chocolaterie, and her confections quickly begin to change the lives of the townspeople through magic, setting up a conflict with Francis Reynaud, the parish curate. Chocolat is a recent contribution to the literary stream of Magic Realism.

More ideas to add more chocolate fun to your evening:
1. Treats – have a selection such as chocolate dipped potato chips, chocolate lollipops, chocolate covered nuts/fruit, chocolate covered popcorn, jobstopper, licorice, chocolate taffy, caramel, truffles and M&M’s/Reses Pieces.
2. Fondue – this requires some time and preparation but will be worth it in the end. Melt some chocolate in a fondue kit or place chocolate in a bowl then microwave. Have bite size treats for dipping like fresh fruit (strawberries are the best), cookies, cakes, marshmallows and savory items like pretzels, potato chips, even strips of cooked bacon. The options are endless. Here’s a recipe for a mocha chocolate fondue if you are wanting try a new flavor.
3. Guessing game – in the movie Chocolat, Vianne has an amazing ability to guess people’s chocolate faves. Can you guess your sweetie’s if you don’t know it already? Or get a box/package of assorted truffles and/or chocolates and hide the chocolate flavor legend/map. Each person has to take a bite of a treat and guess what the flavor is.
Sometimes a night at home cuddling with your sweetie, watching a good movie and enjoying some chocolate treats is what The Chocolate Date Diva ordered. K.I.S.S. – Keep It Simple and Sweet Have an awesome day and may it be filled with your sweetie’s love.
